The job of each of these proofs is crucial....
Yes, you never trade a robot based solely on back-testing...we all know that. Back-testing only provides us a general picture of a robot's past performance... but it's not enough, it's not 100% reliable because trades were not taken on live prices.
However....if a robot has a bad back-test you are almost guaranteed that it will trade poorly in live market conditions.
